Texas Merchant Named as CCI President

February 05, 1999

MEMPHIS - Paul A. Ruh, a merchant with Paul Reinhart, Inc., Richardson, TX, was elected president of Cotton Council International (CCI) for 1999. He was named during CCI's board meeting which convened at the National Cotton Council's 60 anniversary meeting here today. CCI is the Council's export promotions arm.

Formerly CCI's first vice president, Ruh succeeds Bruce K. Groefsema, a cooperative official from CALCOT, Bakersfield, CA, who is now board chairman.

Other CCI officers elected for '99 are first vice president J. Larry Nelson, ginner, Edmonson, TX; second vice president Hans G. Kretschmer, cooperative official, El Paso, TX; and treasurer, William B. Dunavant, III, merchant, Memphis, TN. Phillip C. Burnett of Memphis, TN, was re-elected as CCI Board secretary and Allen A. Terhaar, Washington, DC, was elected assistant secretary.

New CCI directors are: James B. Hansen, producer, Corcoran, CA; Robert Glassman, ginner, Fresno, CA; Joseph Walker, II, merchant, Columbia, SC; William C. Tharp, merchant, Las Cruces, NM; and Jerry D. Rowland, manufacturer, Winston-Salem, NC.

Re-elected directors include: Robert A. Carson, Jr., producer, Marks, MS; Cliett A. Lowman, III, producer, Kingsville, TX; John E. Pucheu, Jr., producer, Tranquillity, CA; Charles K. "Chuck" Youngker, producer, Buckeye, AZ; Robert W. Greene, ginner, Courtland, AL; Vance C. Shoaf, warehouseman, Milan, TN; Willis H. Willey, III, warehouseman, Memphis, TN; Wayne Martin, crusher, Lubbock, TX; Timothy L.
