Three COTTON USA Facebook fans in Medellin, Colombia, toured the Colombiatex trade show with CCI after winning an online contest. The winners were the first ones to correctly answer questions about the COTTON USA brand on Facebook.

Pilar Luna, a well-known fashion expert in Colombia, and CCI representatives led the Colombiatex tour and explained the importance of U.S. cotton fiber in yarns, fabrics and garments. At the end of tour, the consumers participated in a blind fabric test to identify cotton fabrics by touch.

In addition to Facebook, COTTON USA also used Twitter as a promotional tool. Nearly 30 Colombiatex attendees participated in a contest in which they shared photos of themselves on Twitter wearing cotton clothes and using “#LOVEMYCOTTON.” The first ten consumers who uploaded photos won prizes donated by Cotton Incorporated.

In its 28th year, Colombiatex finished with $306 million in business expectations, 500 exhibitors and more than 20,000 visitors from 24 countries. The COTTON USA Sourcing Program promoted the U.S. cotton textile industry at the show alongside nine U.S. mills: Cotswold Industries/Central Textiles; Frontier Spinning Mills; Keer America Corporation; Milliken; Mo Caro Dyeing & Finishing, Inc.; Parkdale; Shuford Yarns; Tuscarora Yarns; and Zagis USA.
