COTTON USA Sourcing Fair in China Builds Business for U.S. Cotton
Cotton Council International (CCI) arranged more than 1,400 meetings between buyers and sellers of U.S. cotton-rich fabrics and garments during the COTTON USA Sourcing Fair in Guangzhou, China, from June 22-25. Participants said the fair provided attendees with valuable opportunities to network and build connections along the global textile supply chain with the goal of increasing U.S. cotton exports.
One hundred and twenty participants attended this private trade fair, representing 26 fabric mills, 20 garment manufacturers in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the ASEAN region, and 18 global brands and retailers. CCI recruited a variety of participants—especially international brands and retailers representing companies in the United States, Europe, Japan, Thailand, Korea and Hong Kong—to join the supply chain event and attract mills and garment manufacturers.
Prior to the fair, the participants attended a briefing session and participated in the following presentations: (1) an overview of the global raw cotton situation by Jerry Marshall, owner of The Yiyang Company; (2) an update on global sourcing directions by Milly Shum, merchandise director of jeanswear bottoms, VF Asia Ltd.; and (3) a brief on new consumer-influencing apparel purchases by Jane Singer, director of Inside Fashion.
Cotton Incorporated shared information at a booth during the fair to introduce its latest production innovations, supply chain opportunities and marketing programs. Additionally, Hoa Huynh, director of the Agricultural Trade Office, U.S. Consulate General, Guangzhou, and Vincent Qin, founder & CEO of Denim Innovation Alliance, also attended the sourcing fair.
