COTTON USA Sourcing Program Conferences Address TPP
The COTTON USA Sourcing Program sponsored conferences in Peru and Colombia to discuss the Trans – Pacific Partnership’s (TPP) benefits and impact for U.S. cotton in the Andean Region.
CECATEC (the Central America - Dominican Republic Apparel and Textile Council) Executive Director Karin de León spoke at both events about the TPP’s impact and opportunities for integration within Andean countries. Guests also received information about the COTTON USA Sourcing Program and its 17 participating U.S. mills. At the end of the sessions, participants got answers to questions about specific topics of concern to their companies.
The Asociacion Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia (ANDI) Chamber of Cotton, Fibers, Textiles and Manufacturers organized the conference in Colombia, which presented 2016 textile industry perspectives and the latest annual textile and apparel sector results. COTTON USA held the conference in Peru during the week of the Perumoda trade show.
Executives from leading textile-apparel companies in the region attended the conferences, such as Coltejer S.A., Crystal S.A. Hilanderia Universal S.A., Fabricato S.A., Lafayette, Coats Cadena, Textiles Omnes, Comertex, Distrihogar and Protela S.A. in Colombia, as well as Compañía Industrial Nuevo Mundo, Industrias Nettalco, Textil Only Star, Perupima, Creditex, Devanlay and Lives in Peru. For first time, COTTON USA also live-streamed the events to about 115 Internet Protocol (IP) addresses across Peru, Colombia and the U.S.
