Regardless of whether itʼs a blind date, a long-awaited get-together or a chance meeting – the first rendezvous is thrilling and full of excitement. Itʼs no wonder then that the question comes up: What should I wear?

An online COTTON USA consumer survey in Germany asked  2,600 men and women about what they prefer to wear on a first date. COTTON featured on the survey on cottonusa.de, Facebook, styleranking.de and erdbeerlounge.de, combined with a prize draw.

The key finding of the study is that more than two-thirds of women and more than half of all men say that the outfit worn on the first date is very important. Because of its feel-good factor, 66% of the participants clearly prefer that outfit to be made of cotton. And if you feel good, you also make a good impression – definitely very important on the first date.

The survey revealed that every third German favors a classic, modern style on the first date. Both men and women like to wear jeans or chinos. Women like to combine them with a blouse or button-down shirt. Men sometimes also opt for a T-shirt or sweater – along with a button-down shirt, which interestingly enough is more popular among younger people than older men.

The COTTON USA multi-media campaign spanned print, online and radio, creating more than 118 million consumer page impressions with 127 media partners.
