Global Fashion Industry Meets at Prime Source in Hong Kong
Nearly 200 fashion supply chain executives from around the globe gathered in Hong Kong March 14-15 to discuss the latest trends in sourcing and future textile industry development at the Prime Source Forum.
Foremost on delegates’ minds was how the apparel industry needs to continue to become more transparent and responsible throughout the supply chain – from fiber to fashion. Best practices, compliance and partnerships are the future. This puts U.S. cotton in a prime position as a solution provider to offer its high quality products to global brands and retailers.
Other topics included the advent of technology such as 3D printing and virtual design, designer/buyer-based decision-making for fabric and materials choices, and the trend of customization and personalization for enhanced consumer experiences. Participants also discussed the harmonization of global standards, sourcing shifts with a focus on ASEAN and Ethiopia, China’s enforcement of new environmental standards for the upgrading of their textile industry, evolving consumer markets and the various trade agreements recently enacted.
