U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol® Membership
Launched in 2020, the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol® underpins and verifies U.S. cotton’s sustainability progress.
The Trust Protocol is grounded in science-based measurements that track six key metrics: land use, soil carbon, water management, soil loss, greenhouse gas emissions and energy efficiency. The program is also the world’s first sustainable cotton fiber to offer article-level supply chain transparency. Together, this represents one of the most ambitious and robust sustainability initiatives available.
Trust Protocol members are also able to use the Trust Protocol logo and materials to communicate sustainability goals. Any sustainability marketing claim should only be made with the Trust Protocol branding and not the COTTON USA™ Mark.
In keeping with the robust nature of the program and to avoid any risk of greenwashing, strict guidelines have been put together around Member use of the Trust Protocol verification stamps, which provides confidence knowing that the cotton comes from a program with social and environmental integrity. Please refer to the Claims Framework which you receive as a member or contact the Trust Protocol office directly.
