REVOLUTIONARY COTTON-RICH YOGA WEAR REDUCES RECOVERY TIME WITH FDA-DETERMINED MEDICAL DEVICE CELLIANT TECHNOLOGY DEBUTS AT PREMIÈRE VISION SHOW

WASHINGTON, D.C. (December 2017) – Soft and natural U.S.-grown cotton combined with revolutionary Celliant technology has resulted in the first yoga pants and shirts that improve blood flow for faster recovery times while being super comfortable.

The new yoga wear was displayed at the Première Vision show in Paris at the COTTON USA™ booth in September as an example of how U.S. cotton can win in categories traditionally dominated by synthetics.

Trenton Horinek of Celliant explained, “Fabrics containing FDA-determined Celliant use patented fiber technology to aid in faster recovery from strain and stress by increasing tissue oxygenation and boosting blood flow back into the muscle.”

“Celliant is a responsive textile that helps your body,” Horinek continued. “Our product is embedded with minerals that absorb your body heat, converting it into infrared energy, which is extremely useful for the human body. The biggest benefit is creating blood flow, and we’re now an FDA-determined medical device so you can say on your packaging your product increases blood flow and energy, boosts performance and speeds muscle recovery.”

Brands, retailers and manufacturers that combine the FDA-determined Celliant technology with greater than 50 percent U.S. cotton also have the benefit of using the COTTON USA™ Mark on packaging. A recent global consumer study conducted in the major consumer markets of the world (North America, China, India and the EU) shows that 80 percent of consumers prefer clothing and home goods that have the COTTON USA™ Mark over generic 100 percent cotton. Preference is so high that two thirds of consumers said they would pay more for a product with the COTTON USA™ Mark rather than a generic cotton mark.

“Innovation is one reason that COTTON USA has become the cotton the world trusts,” said Jenn Sarter, spokesperson for COTTON USA. “We know consumers want more from their everyday performance wear, and combining U.S. cotton with technology such as Celliant will elevate everything from yoga pants to your favorite shirt. The premium value and quality of cotton from the U.S. enhances the appeal of these concepts with consumers – that’s why we’ll continue to bring new promotional displays like this to the forefront to inspire innovation across the industry.”

“U.S. cotton is a great fit for our technology because we combined the best cotton in the world—a natural fiber that people know, trust and love with something new that can help relieve exertion, body aches and minor muscle soreness,” Horinek said. “We wanted to find a way to blend U.S. cotton with innovative Celliant technology because all customers are asking what their clothes can do for them, and now we have a blend that fits perfectly.”

COTTON USA will unveil its first line of home good promotional displays at the Heimtextil show in Germany in January 2018 and will return to Première Vision show in Paris in spring 2018 to exhibit new promotional displays.

About the Study

CCI conducted global consumer surveys in December 2016 and February 2017, targeting the largest developed and developing markets in the world. At least 300 respondents per country (600 total in the EU), representing the largest consumer markets in the world, were surveyed. The US, Canada, UK, and EU were included as they represent the largest developed markets in the world, while China and India represent two of the largest developing markets with enormous growth in middle class spending. The sample consisted of middle to upper income females ages 18-54 and who are the primary decision makers for clothing and home textile purchases. Three different hang tags were compared:

• A baseline “100% cotton” hang tag

• A COTTON USA branded “100% U.S. Cotton” hang tag

• A COTTON USA branded “100% U.S. Cotton” hang tag with the slogan, “Cotton You Can Trust.”

These were attached to a generic white sweater and a generic white towel. The products were kept generic to make sure the focus was on the hang tags and the power of their message.
